The Power of Visuals

As a Development Director, particularly because I work with a policy non-profit, I do a lot of writing. We spend a lot of time crafting and editing our messages, so it can be frustrating to realize how few people actually read them. Our click-through rates are above the industry standard. But even if all those clickers read our message, which we know they don’t, only about a quarter to a third of the recipients are even looking at it.

After participating in a workshop series with the Dodge Foundation, I wrote a guest blog post about the power of visual images and New Jersey Future launched a smart growth photo contest. The idea was to build up our database of images and engage with our supporters at the same time. We’ll have a gallery up online soon, but these last few months have really reinforced the value of what Ideal Image Consulting can offer to other non-profit organizations. If you need help with an event or want some advice about how the use of images can help your campaign, please contact us for a free consultation.
